At the age of 75, after 50 years in practice as a clinical psychologist and having written five nonfiction books, I decided to turn my full-time attention to writing fiction. I figured I could reach a lot more people through writing fiction than I could in my practice. I have now complete six novels. Each one of my novels delivers a psychological message about the human condition and has a psychological theme. They focus on exploring the light and dark sides of the human psyche and the struggle between the two that forms our personality.Each book either represents a composite of people whom I have met in my practice and tells their story in a manner that I hope will cause the reader to reflect on his or her own life or explores a common issue familiar to most of us: adoption, relationships, self-discovery, family drama, to mention a few.I was born and raised in New York City where I attended grade school, high school and college. I received a doctorate in clinical psychology from the University of Kansas in 1964 and then moved to California as a practicing clinical psychologist. I practiced in many settings – hospitals, clinics, prisons, universities – ultimately ending up in private practice where I remained until recently.
